About Dholera Smart City
Dholera Smart City, situated in the Indian state of ‘Gujarat, is a fast-growing ‘smart city. Spread over 100 kilometers from Ahmedabad, Dholera is among the key projects of the government in its endeavor to build a smart city from scratch. It is a Greenfield Smart City, one of the proposed towns to be developed in the DMIC (Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor) project, an infrastructure development project that is included among the biggest in India. Dholera is expected to grow into a business, residential, and investment hub the smart way, that is, with smart planning, good infrastructure, and adequate government backing.
In the historical perspective, Dholera was a vital port in the past and enjoyed high cultural significance in the Saurashtra region. It was a quiet town for many years, but the government declared it an ideal spot for a smart city, and the situation began to change. Here, the emphasis was no longer on the heritage but on high technology, which turned Dholera into a model of the smart future of India's urbanization.
